Research Project Title

Collective Narratives and Performative Traditions: A Co-relational Study of the Hook-Swinging Festivals in Indian Regions (Gajan from Bengal and Khai Poda Yatra from Odisha)

The project aims to conduct field-based research and collect information related to traditional community festivals in different regions of India. The study specifically focuses on the Gajan festival in Bengal and the Khai Poda Yatra festival in Odisha.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

• Candidates having prior fieldwork experience will be given preference.
• Preference will be given to candidates who know the local language of the research area.
• Candidates with proficiency in translating from Bengali or Odia (depending on the region) into English will be preferred.
• Candidates capable of transcribing field interview recordings will receive preference.
• Candidates with basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word will be preferred.

Selected candidates will be engaged in field-based research activities related to community festivals in Bengal and Odisha.

Responsibilities of the Field Investigator

• Collecting research data from selected locations.
• Conducting field-based studies and investigations.
• Conducting interviews during community festivals.
• Visiting selected festival sites in Bengal and Odisha.
• Recording, documenting and organizing field data.
• Transcribing field interviews and recorded conversations.
• Assisting in various research activities related to the project.
