Tenure of Appointment
The appointment is initially valid until 31 March 2026 from the date of joining. The tenure may be extended later or terminated earlier based on performance and availability of required funds. The candidate shall not have any claim for regular or permanent appointment.
Eligibility Criteria
- Essential Qualification: First class M.Sc. in Zoology / Botany / Environmental Sciences / Ecology / any related discipline of Life Sciences.
- Desirable Qualification: Research experience in Ecology field surveys and laboratory experiments, having Ph.D. in related discipline.
Age Limit
- Maximum Age: Should not exceed 35 years as on 05 September 2025.
- Relaxation: Usual relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/Women/Differently-abled candidates as per Government of India rules. Age may also be relaxed for exceptionally bright candidates with relevant experience.

Application Process
- Eligible and interested candidates are requested to apply by sending a covering letter to the email pnc_bsd@isical.ac.in, mentioning subject as “Application for PLP at AERU”, addressed to the Professor-in-Charge, Biological Sciences Division, Indian Statistical Institute.
- The covering letter must include the project name along with the current signed resume (CV) of the candidate in English.
- The CV must contain details such as: Name (In block letters), Permanent/Present Address, Email Address, Telephone/Mobile Number, Parent’s/Spouse’s Name, Date of Birth, Academic Qualifications (with percentage of marks obtained in each examination starting from 10th class), Experience and Publications (if any), Identity Proof (Voter Card/PAN Card etc.), SC/ST/OBC/Differently abled status.
- All documents/testimonials must be self-attested scanned copies attached with the application.
- At the time of joining, selected candidates must produce original documents/testimonials for verification and a medical fitness certificate from the Medical Officer of the Institute. Failure to produce these will result in cancellation of the offer and the position will be offered to the next candidate in the merit list.
