The Staff Selection Commission, Government of India has released the official notification for the Combined Hindi Translators Examination 2026 for recruitment to Group “B” Non-Gazetted posts including Junior Hindi Translator, Junior Translation Officer, Junior Translator, Senior Hindi Translator, Senior Translator and Senior Translation Officer in various Ministries, Departments and Organizations of the Government of India.

Eligibility Criteria
Nationality
Candidate must be a citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or a person of Indian origin migrated from eligible countries with the intention of permanently settling in India. Candidates other than Indian citizens may require an eligibility certificate issued by the Government of India.
Only male candidates are eligible for vacancies, if any, reported in the Border Roads Organization (BRO).
Educational Qualification
Candidates must possess the required qualification as on 01 August 2026.
- For Junior posts, candidates must have a Master’s Degree in Hindi or English or any other subject with Hindi and English as required subjects/medium, along with a recognized Diploma/Certificate course in Hindi-English translation or two years’ translation experience in Central/State Government office, including Government of India Undertaking.
- For Senior posts, candidates must have the same Master’s Degree requirement along with a recognized Diploma/Certificate course in Hindi-English translation or three years’ translation experience in Central/State Government office, including Government of India Undertaking.
Age Limit and Relaxation
Age Limit: 18 to 30 years as on 01 August 2026. Candidates must be born not before 02 August 1996 and not later than 01 August 2008.

Reservation Details
Reservation will be provided for SC, ST, OBC, EWS and PwBD candidates as per Government rules. The Commission selects candidates according to vacancies reported by User Departments. Reservation roster, vacancy earmarking and implementation of reservation policy are handled by the concerned User Departments.
Since the posts are Group “B” posts, there is no reservation for Ex-Servicemen unless otherwise stated in relevant guidelines. However, eligible Ex-Servicemen can claim age relaxation.

Application Process
- Visit the official SSC website.
- Complete One Time Registration on the new SSC website.
- Login and fill the Combined Hindi Translators Examination 2026 application form.
- Capture live photograph as per SSC instructions.
- Upload scanned signature in JPEG/JPG format of 10 KB to 20 KB.
- Upload disability certificate, if applicable.
- Preview all details carefully before final submission.
- Pay the application fee online, if applicable.
- Take a printout of the submitted application form for future reference.
Selection Process and Exam Pattern

- Paper-I will have objective type multiple choice questions.
- There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in Paper-I.
- Paper-II will include Hindi to English translation, English to Hindi translation, Hindi essay and English essay.
- Eligible scribe candidates will get 2 hours 40 minutes for each paper.
Minimum Qualifying Marks
- UR: 30%
- OBC / EWS: 25%
- All Other Categories: 20%
Final Selection
Candidates will be shortlisted for Paper-II based on marks obtained in Paper-I. Final selection will be based on performance in Paper-I and Paper-II along with post and department preferences submitted by candidates.
- Paper-I weightage for final merit: 50%
- Paper-II weightage for final merit: 100%
- Final allocation will be made on merit-cum-preference basis.
- Selected candidates will be on probation for two years.
