Selection Process
- Computer Based Test (CBT) – Single stage; includes negative marking of 1/3rd mark per wrong answer.
- Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) – Shortlisting up to 8 times the vacancies. Final merit based on 70% CBT + 30% CBAT.
- Document Verification (DV)

Other Important Information
- Free Sleeper Class Train Pass for SC/ST candidates (with valid caste certificate) for attending exams.
- Strict prohibition of mobile phones, calculators, food items, and other banned items inside exam centers.
- Negative marking applicable in CBT; normalization of marks for multi-shift exams.
- Selected candidates will undergo training, during which stipend will be paid.
- Postings are transferable across Indian Railways.
- Candidates may be liable for active service in Railway Engineers’ Territorial Army units.
