Eligibility Criteria
Essential Educational Qualification
- Passed 12th (+2 stage) with minimum 50% marks
50% not required for SC/ST/Ex-servicemen/PwBD or candidates with higher qualification. - Matriculation + Act Apprentice (NCVT/SCVT)
- Matriculation + ITI (NCVT/SCVT)
- Candidates awaiting results or appearing in final exams are not eligible.
Cultural Qualification
- Degree, Diploma, or Certificate in the relevant cultural field (Singer / Saxophone) issued by a Government-recognized institution.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience in the applied discipline, including performances on All India Radio (AIR) or Doordarshan.
- Awards or prizes won at National level in the relevant cultural discipline.
Typing Proficiency (If Posted as Clerk-cum-Typist)
Must acquire typing speed within two years:
• 30 w.p.m in English
• 25 w.p.m in Hindi
Appointment remains provisional until typing skill is acquired.

Age Relaxation
- Serving Railway employees (3 years continuous service): UR 40, OBC 43, SC/ST 45
- Widows/Divorced/Judicially separated not remarried: UR 35, OBC 38, SC/ST 40
- PwBD candidates: +10 years
- Ex-servicemen: Service + 3 years (minimum 6 months service required)
- Domiciled in J&K (01.01.1980 – 31.12.1989): +5 years
Reservation Details
There is no community-wise reservation for recruitment under Cultural Quota. However, SC/ST/OBC candidates may avail age relaxation as admissible and will receive reservation benefits only after appointment.
OBC candidates must submit a non-creamy layer certificate as per Annexure-D.

Selection Process
Stage-I: Written Test (50 Marks)
- Objective type questions
- Negative marking: 1/3rd for each wrong answer
- Duration: 60 minutes

- General Mathematics
- General English & Hindi
- Reasoning and Aptitude
- Professional Knowledge
- Minimum qualifying marks: 40%
Stage-II: Assessment of Talent (50 Marks)
- Practical Demonstration: 35 marks
- Testimonials / Awards: 15 marks
Only candidates securing at least 40% in Stage-I and up to 5 times the number of vacancies will be called for Stage-II. Written examination and proficiency test will be conducted at Maligaon, Guwahati.
After clearing both stages, candidates will undergo medical examination as per prescribed standards.
Medical Standards
Selected candidates will undergo medical examination by the Railway Medical Authority according to standards prescribed for the post.
Posting and Training
- Posting can be anywhere within the jurisdiction of Northeast Frontier Railway.
- Training must be completed as prescribed for the post.
- Selected candidates must participate in cultural programmes and competitions organized by the Railway Administration.

Important Instructions
- Eligibility decisions by the Railway Administration are final.
- Spellings in application must match original certificates.
- Unsigned or incomplete applications will be rejected.
- Applications with blurred or smudged thumb impression will be rejected.
- IPO issued before the date of notification will be rejected.
- Original certificates must be produced during document verification.
- Candidates employed in Government/PSUs must apply with NOC.
- No TA/DA or accommodation will be provided for appearing in exam.
- Jurisdiction for legal matters: Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), Guwahati.
- Canvassing or misconduct leads to disqualification.
