Employment Type
The appointment is purely on a contract basis through a Walk-in Interview. It is initially for a fixed duration with possible extension based on project requirements.
Base Salary / Emoluments

Duration of Engagement
- Resource Person (Junior): Initially 6 months, extendable up to 1 year depending on requirement.
- Junior Research Fellow (JRF): Initially 1 year, extendable up to 2 additional years based on performance and project needs.
Eligibility Criteria
Resource Person (Junior)
Essential Qualification:
- B.Tech / B.E. in Civil Engineering OR
- Master’s Degree in Science with specialization in Hydrology / Water Resources / Earth Sciences / Remote Sensing & GIS.
Desirable Qualification:
- Preference for higher qualification or experience in ERT, Topographic & Bathymetry Survey, Pumping Test, RS & GIS, and laboratory water-quality analysis using advanced instruments.
Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
Essential Qualification:
- Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science OR Master’s Degree in Science/Engineering/Technology in Climate Science, Atmospheric Science, Meteorology, Hydrology, Water Resources Engineering, Geoinformatics, Remote Sensing & GIS or equivalent.
Additional Requirement:
- Must be selected through CSIR-UGC NET (including Lectureship/Assistant Professorship) or GATE OR through national-level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments or Agencies (DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MOE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER, etc.).
Desirable Qualification:
- Strong knowledge of Climate Modeling, Hydrological Modeling, Python / R.
- Experience in Hydrological Modeling and Processing of Climate Model Datasets.
Age Limit
- For JRF: Maximum 30 years as on date of interview.
- Relaxation: Up to 5 years for SC/ST/OBC/Women/Physically Handicapped candidates as per Government of India rules.
- For Resource Person: No specific upper limit mentioned; subject to eligibility and experience.
Reservation Details
Reservation and age relaxation are applicable for SC, ST, OBC, Women, and Physically Handicapped candidates as per Government of India norms. The number of posts may increase or decrease depending on project requirements.
Application and Selection Process
Candidates must appear for a Walk-in Interview with complete bio-data and supporting documents. The detailed process is as follows:
- Carry a complete bio-data in prescribed format including Advertisement No., Post applied for, Sub-project title, Name, Father’s Name, Date of Birth, Category, Contact details, Educational qualifications, Experience, Research papers, and Knowledge of software.
- Bring one passport-size photograph and self-attested copies of certificates, along with originals for verification.
- Reporting time is one hour before interview (9:30 AM).
- Out-station candidates must arrange their own boarding and lodging at Roorkee.
Note: Selection will be through Walk-in Interview only. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview. TA/DA may be admissible only after official joining. The appointment is purely temporary and can be terminated at any time without notice or reason.
General Terms and Conditions
- Appointment is purely temporary, on a full-time basis.
- No claim for regular NIH employment shall be entertained.
- The tenure may be terminated anytime without assigning any reason.
- No allowances such as DA, Telephone, Transport facility, or Personal Staff will be provided.
- Selected candidates may be offered transit accommodation as per institute rules on a license fee basis.
- Candidates must ensure eligibility before appearing; ineligible candidates will not be entertained.
