Fellowship / Salary Details

• JRF Fellowship: ₹37,000 per month
• SRF Fellowship: ₹42,000 per month (after 2 years based on performance)

Employment Type

This is a temporary research fellowship. Engagement is initially for 2 years and may be extended up to a maximum of 5 years (JRF + SRF combined). This position does not grant any right to claim regular employment in ISRO/IIRS/Department of Space.

Application Process

1. Applications must be submitted online only on the official IIRS website.
2. Candidates must upload recent passport-size color photograph and signature.
3. Mark sheets, degree certificates, caste/PwBD certificates (if applicable) must be uploaded in the prescribed format.
4. NET/GATE/National exam scorecard must be uploaded (≤ 500 KB).
5. Govt/PSU employees must provide a valid No Objection Certificate (NOC).
6. Email ID must be correct; interview call letters are sent only through email.
7. No physical/offline applications are accepted.

Eligibility Criteria

General Educational Requirements

• M.E./M.Tech/M.Sc (Engineering) with minimum 60% or 6.5 CGPA.
• OR M.Sc with minimum 65% or 6.84 CGPA.
• Mandatory qualification in NET/GATE or equivalent national-level examination.
• Degrees must be recognized by AICTE/UGC or Government of India.
• Professional degrees obtained via Open and Distance Learning (ODL) are not accepted.
• Final-year/awaiting-result candidates are NOT eligible.

Age Limit

• Maximum Age: 28 years as on 14 December 2025
• SC/ST: +5 years relaxation
• OBC-NCL: +3 years relaxation
• PwBD, Ex-Servicemen, Widows, Divorced/Separated Women: As per Government of India rules

Reservation Details

• SC/ST/OBC/PwBD certificates must be uploaded in the prescribed format.
• OBC-NCL certificate must clearly mention non-creamy layer status.
• PwBD disability must be at least 40%, certified by a three-member medical board.

Selection Process

• Screening will be conducted based on educational performance and criteria provided in the online application.
• Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview.
• Interview call letters will be sent only through email.
• Interview will be held in Dehradun only. Venue/date may be changed by IIRS/ISRO if required.

Travel Allowance

Candidates shortlisted for interview will be eligible for 2nd class sleeper rail fare or non-AC govt bus fare (whichever is less) after producing journey proof. TA is paid only after successful document verification.

• JRF position does not grant any right or claim for permanent appointment in ISRO/IIRS/DOS.
• Selected candidates may be posted at any ISRO/DOS centre across India.
• Candidates must be willing to work in remote field locations and participate in experiments.
• Approval from competent authority is required before publishing work.
• A consolidated research report must be submitted at the end of the fellowship.
• Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification.
• Foreign degree holders must submit an AIU equivalence certificate.
