Eligibility Criteria

• Nationality: Indian citizens as per Citizenship Act 1955.
• Age Limit:
  • Flying Branch: 20 to 24 years (Born between 02 July 2002 and 01 July 2006 inclusive).
  • Upper age relaxation to 26 years for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India).
  • Ground Duty (Technical/Non-Technical): 20 to 26 years (Born between 02 July 2000 and 01 July 2006 inclusive).
• Marital Status: Candidates must be unmarried at commencement of course; marriage is not permitted during training. Candidates marrying during training will be discharged and liable to refund government expenses.

Reservation Details

• One seat reserved in Ground Duty (Non-Technical) for Law qualified candidates.
• 10% seats reserved for NCC Special Entry out of AFCAT and CDSE vacancies.
• Tattoo policy: Permanent tattoos not allowed except on inner forearms and backs of hands with self-declaration. Tribal tattoos permitted case-by-case. Small innocuous tattoos (religious symbols, names of close ones) allowed.

Application Fees

• Rs. 550 + GST (non-refundable) for AFCAT entry.
• No application fee for NCC Special Entry candidates.

Selection Process

• Online AFCAT examination conducted at various centers.
• Shortlisted candidates called for Services Selection Board (SSB) interviews.
• Physical and medical examinations are part of selection.
• Final selection is purely merit-based.

• Training Location and Duration: Training starts in first week of July 2026 at Air Force Academy, Dundigal, Hyderabad.
  Duration: 62 weeks for Flying and Ground Duty (Technical) branches, 52 weeks for Ground Duty (Non-Technical) branches.
• Pay and Allowances:
  - Pay: Flying Officer ₹56,100 - ₹1,77,500 (Level 10, Defence Matrix), MSP ₹15,500
  - Flight Cadets stipend during training: ₹56,100/month
  - Allowances based on branch, duty, and posting such as Flying Allowance, Transport Allowance, Technical Allowance, Test Pilot & Flight Test Engineer Allowance, Risk & Hardship Allowance.
• Privileges: Furnished accommodation, comprehensive medical cover for self and dependents, canteen facilities, officers’ mess, subsidized loans, Leave entitlement (60 days annual, 20 days casual).
• Insurance: Rs. 1.25 crore insurance cover applicable via Air Force Group Insurance Society (AFGIS).
• Sports and Adventure Facilities: Includes sky diving, micro light flying, mountaineering, water rafting, and more.
• Travel Allowance (TA): Candidates appearing first time for SSB get TA reimbursed by shortest route (AC-III Tier/AC Chair Car/normal bus fare). No TA for repeat attempts.
• Medical Standards: Candidates must meet specified physical and medical standards as per notification. Any attempt to conceal medical defects or use unfair means may lead to cancellation of candidature.
• Discipline and Code of Conduct: Strict rules regarding marriage, tattoos, narcotics, smoking, alcohol, and conduct during training. Violation leads to discharge.
• Legal Actions: Candidates using unfair means or providing false information will be disqualified and may face legal proceedings.
