Eligibility Criteria

1. Target Candidate Category

Qualified and experienced superannuated Pilots from Armed Forces / DRDO / NAL.

2. Essential Educational / Professional Qualification

• The candidate should have successfully graduated as a Test Pilot on Fixed Wing Aircraft from Aircraft and Systems Testing Establishment (ASTE), Indian Air Force (IAF), or any recognized foreign Test Pilot School.

3. Flying Experience Requirements

• The candidate should be from the Flying Branch of Indian Armed Force / DRDO / NAL.
• The candidate should have more than 2000 hours of total flying.
• The candidate should possess Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) with endorsement on any Aircraft operated at HAL Transport Aircraft Division, Kanpur (Do 228 / H-228 / HS 748).
• Proven experience in developmental flight test programmes of fixed wing aircraft as a test pilot. Candidate who possesses more than 2 years Test Flying experience will be preferred.
• Experience of Instructional flying at Basic or Intermediate flying stage is desirable.
• Experience on Flight Testing of modern platforms or technology demonstrator prototypes for prospective higher generation platforms is desirable.
• The candidate should have good communication skills – both oral and written.

Emoluments and Benefits

The selected candidate engaged as Consultant / Experimental Test Pilot on a contract basis will be granted monthly remuneration and admissible allowances as outlined below:

Job Assignments and Responsibilities

The candidate will be responsible for the following roles and expectations:

• Should be able to coordinate with Design, Flight line, Certification Agencies and Flight Operations regarding Conception of developmental programs, their flight testing, planning including preparation of flight test and certification test programmes, preparation and executing flight tests, data analysis, reporting and contribute in creation of documentation for operating such aircraft.
• Should have good technical knowledge in respect of fixed wing aerodynamics, digital flight control systems, sensors, EW systems and other operational aspects for effectively carrying out test flight activities.
• Should have good idea and experience of air operations and be able to translate operational concepts into tangible capabilities on indigenous programs.
• Should be reasonably familiar with Military & Civil Airworthiness requirements of Aircraft.
• Should be willing to proactively obtain additional qualifications, as required by the Company.
• Should have sound conceptual and analytical abilities for ensuring effective decision making.
• Should have good communication/presentations skills.
• Should be able to focus on timely project implementation and image building process of the Company.
• Should have team building capabilities; ability to guide & motivate a team of qualified pilots/flight engineers and technical staff for achieving the results in a time bound and effective manner; and ability to guide a team of HoDs in diverse disciplines for achieving the results in a time bound and effective manner.

Selection Process

The Selection of the candidate will be done through Interview by the Selection Committee.

General Conditions

• The candidate should be Indian National / Male.
• The engagement as Consultant on Contract Basis will be purely temporary and will not confer any right or claim for the status / facilities / benefits of a regular employee of the Company.
• HAL reserves the right to cancel the Notification and / or the Selection Process. Decision of the Company regarding the selection will be final.
