Roles and Responsibilities

The selected Professor of Practice (PoP) will be expected to contribute to entrepreneurship education, startup mentoring, curriculum development, and industry engagement at BITS Pilani.

1. Streamline and strengthen the existing entrepreneurship curriculum for undergraduate students by incorporating industry perspectives, emerging trends, and best practices in innovation and venture creation.
2. Redesign and enhance the Minor in Entrepreneurship program by establishing a structured course progression, integrating experiential learning components, and developing a comprehensive capstone experience.
3. Lead the development of new entrepreneurship-related courses and curricula while promoting innovative pedagogical approaches and experiential learning methodologies for students and faculty.
4. Serve as the Instructor-in-Charge of at least one existing or newly developed entrepreneurship course, mentor students, assess learning outcomes, and monitor student progress through effective evaluation mechanisms.
5. Collaborate with faculty members across departments to co-design interdisciplinary courses that integrate entrepreneurial thinking, innovation, and problem-solving.
6. Conceptualize, design, and execute entrepreneurship-focused faculty development and training programs to orient faculty toward entrepreneurship and innovation.
7. Strengthen institute-industry engagement by facilitating industry partnerships, establishing sponsored programs, securing industry-linked funding opportunities, and promoting collaborative innovation initiatives.
8. Create strategic partnerships with industry, venture capital firms, incubators, accelerators, alumni entrepreneurs, and government agencies.
9. Mentor startup founders and student entrepreneurs.
10. Build strong networks with investors, accelerators, and industry stakeholders.
11. Support commercialization of research emerging from BITS Pilani.
12. Represent BITS Pilani nationally and internationally in entrepreneurship initiatives.
13. Undertake any additional initiative aligned with the applicant's prior experience and the institutional requirements.

• BITS Pilani invites applications from distinguished professionals belonging to non-academic and industrial backgrounds.
• The appointment is purely contractual in nature.
• The initial tenure is three years.
• The contract may be extended by one additional year.
• Renewal of the contract will be based on annual performance appraisal.
• Candidates with exceptional entrepreneurial accomplishments may also be considered even if they do not follow the traditional academic route.
• The position specifically focuses on strengthening entrepreneurship education, startup mentorship, innovation, industry collaboration, and commercialization activities.
