Educational Qualification

Minimum Diploma in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) from an AICTE and State Council for Technical Education recognized institution. The candidate should have exposure to using hardware and software in an office environment.

The selected candidate will manage all computer facilities and related activities of the university. Responsibilities include maintaining the university website, LAN system, internet, intranet, computing facilities, and university software systems.

Age Limit

• Minimum Age: 18 years
• Maximum Age: 40 years as on 01/01/2025
• Age relaxation as per Government of Assam rules for SC, ST, OBC, MOBC, Ex-Servicemen, and Persons with Disabilities (PWD).

Application Process

1. Download the prescribed application form from the ASTU website.
2. Fill out the application form and attach 2 passport-size photographs and 2 self-addressed envelopes.
3. The envelope should be superscribed with: “Application for the post of System Operator (Post Code SO/01/2025)”.
4. Send the completed application to:
   The Registrar, Assam Science and Technology University, Tetelia Road, Jalukbari, Guwahati – 781013, Assam.
5. Only downloaded A4-size application forms will be accepted.
6. A candidate should submit only one application per post.

Application Fees

All fees are to be paid online via SBI Collect. No cash, cheque, or DD will be accepted. Fees once paid are non-refundable.

• Select Category as Educational Institute.
• Filter state as Assam.
• Search and select Assam Science and Technology University.
• Select Payment Category:
  • Application Fee for Recruitment (₹1000) – Other than SC/ST Category
  • Application Fee for Recruitment (₹500) – SC/ST Category
• Provide details, make payment, and print the online receipt to attach with the application.

Important Dates

Selection Process

Mode of Selection: Written Test followed by Computer Skill Test.

Syllabus for Written Test:

• English Aptitude Test
• Computer Competency
• General Knowledge (Assam, India, Current Affairs, Environment, International Affairs)
• Numerical Ability and Logical Reasoning

The written test will consist of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ). Shortlisted candidates will be called for the Computer Skill Test to finalize selection.

Reservation Details

One post is available under the Unreserved (UR) category. Age relaxation and other concessions are applicable as per Government of Assam norms for SC, ST, OBC, MOBC, Ex-Servicemen, and PWD candidates.

General Terms and Instructions

• Appointment will be up to the age of 60 years, subject to university rules.
• Candidates must be registered with the Employment Exchange of Assam.
• Application must include 2 passport-size photos and 2 self-addressed envelopes.
• Eligibility criteria are determined as on the last date of application (except age, which is as on 01/01/2025).
• Fulfilling minimum criteria does not guarantee selection.
• Applications submitted after the last date or incomplete will be rejected.
• Certificates of experience must be on official letterhead, signed, and dated.
• University reserves the right to withdraw any advertised post(s) without reason.
• No TA/DA will be provided for attending written test or computer skill test.
• All updates and corrigenda will be available only on the ASTU website.
• All disputes will be under the jurisdiction of Guwahati, Assam only.
