Eligibility Criteria

Project Associate – I

• Essential Qualification: Four-year Bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences / Master’s degree in Natural Sciences / B.Tech degree from a recognized university.
• Eligibility Test: Candidates must have cleared a national eligibility test such as CSIR/UGC-NET, GATE, JAM, or JEST.
• Desirable Skills: Familiarity with programming languages (Fortran / C++ / Python), knowledge of quantum field theory, particle physics, and core physics courses.

Library Trainee

• Essential Qualification: M.L.I.Sc. Degree with first class and good English knowledge. Candidates should have passed out in 2024 or 2025 only.
• Desirable Skills: Good communication skills and knowledge of computers. Preference will be given to candidates who pursued the degree as a regular academic course.

Age Limit

• Project Associate – I: Less than 40 years as on the last date of receipt of applications.
• Library Trainee: Maximum 27 years as on the last date of receipt of applications.

Reservation and Reimbursement

Outstation candidates belonging to SC/ST category appearing for the written test and selected for interview will be reimbursed for to & fro second class railway/bus fare or actual fare incurred, whichever is less, from the shortest route on production of original tickets.

Selection Process

Project Associate – I

• Shortlisting of candidates based on eligibility.
• Online interview conducted by Dr. Shankha Banerjee and team.

Library Trainee

• Written Test will be conducted.
• Only candidates who qualify in written test will be called for interview.
• Shortlisted candidates’ names and test/interview details will be displayed on IMSc website.
• Call letters will be sent by email.

General Conditions

1. Mails sent after 2400 hrs on 14.09.2025 will not be considered under any circumstances.
2. The subject in the email as explained above is mandatory.
3. Candidates must visit IMSc website periodically for updates.
4. Emails without attached resume will not be considered.
5. Hard copies of applications/resumes sent by hand, post, or courier will not be considered.
6. Prescribed qualifications are minimum, and mere possession does not entitle candidates for shortlisting.
7. Selection is purely contractual; no claim of absorption in IMSc will be entertained.
8. No accommodation will be provided to Library Trainees.
9. Only SC/ST outstation candidates selected for interview will be reimbursed travel costs.
10. Selected candidates must join immediately on receipt of offer.
11. No interim correspondence will be entertained.
12. Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification.
