Sagarmala Finance Corporation Limited (SMFCL), formerly known as Sagarmala Development Company Limited, is a Mini-Ratna Category-I Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Government of India. SMFCL is a wholly owned Government of India enterprise incorporated with an initial authorized capital of Rs. 1,000 Crores and a paid-up capital of Rs. 1000 Crores. The corporation is registered as a Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
SMFCL has invited applications for engagement of a professional expert for the position of Head of Internal Audit (HIA) on a contractual basis to oversee statutory and regulatory compliance within the organization and support NBFC operations including financing, accounting, lending operations, and regulatory compliances.

Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
- CA (Chartered Accountant) OR ICWAI
Post Qualification Experience
- Minimum 20 years of post-qualification experience.
- At least 12 years of experience in Finance / Audit / Compliance / Legal / Risk Management functions of NBFCs / Banks / Financial Institutions.
- Candidate must be a retired official from Central Government / State Government / CPSUs / State PSUs / Autonomous Bodies or equivalent organization.
- The rank should not be below E6 level or equivalent.
Age Limit
- Maximum Age: 65 Years (as on 14.02.2026)
Scope of Work
- Planning and executing risk-based internal audits.
- Exercising independent judgement and evaluating key audit issues.
- Guiding the audit team and engaging with auditors.
- Experience in data analytics and audit tools.
- Reporting to MD/Audit Committee and Board of Directors.
- Auditing financial, operational, and regulatory processes.
- Presentation of internal audit reports and follow-up of audit observations.
