Applications are invited by the Reserve Bank of India from eligible candidates belonging to Unreserved Category to fill up 01 (one) post of Bank’s Medical Consultant (BMC) on contract basis for Reserve Bank of India, Agartala. The engagement will be on a fixed hourly remuneration basis.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Minimum qualification: MBBS degree from a university recognized by Medical Council of India (Allopathic system of medicine).
  • Applicants with a postgraduate degree in General Medicine are also eligible to apply.
  • Minimum 2 years experience practicing medicine in any hospital or clinic.
  • Applicant's dispensary or residence should be within 3-5 km radius of RBI Agartala Office Premise.

Selection Process

  1. Shortlisting of eligible candidates by the Bank.
  2. Interview of shortlisted candidates.
  3. Medical fitness test for selected candidates, at the candidate’s own expense.
  4. Signing of contract agreement and acceptance of Bank’s Code of Conduct.

Terms & Conditions of Engagement

Duty Hours & Remuneration

Conveyance: ₹1,000/month (part of total remuneration)
Mobile Charges: ₹1,000/month reimbursement
Possible increase of duty hours up to 30 hours/week based on Bank’s requirements.

The Bank reserves the right to review remuneration and alter duty hours or location as required.

Compensation for work on public holidays is ₹1,000 per hour. Income tax will be deducted at source as applicable.

Duration & Termination

  • Contract period: 3 years (no renewal after completion).
  • Contract may be terminated by either party with 3 months’ notice or payment in lieu.
  • In case of gross misconduct, contract may be terminated with 10 days’ notice.
  • Engagement is purely temporary with no claim for regular employment or benefits like pension, gratuity, or leave.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Attend RBI office premises in Agartala during duty hours and provide medical consultations to Bank staff, touring staff, their families including dependent parents, retired employees, and spouses who are members of the Medical Assistance Fund Scheme free of charge.
  • Provide emergency treatment and administer injections, including minor surgeries and dressings.
  • Attend Bank staff residing in SRAs or Bank-leased flats, and issue medical certificates or countersign certificates from other qualified doctors.
  • Provide consultation at private clinic for urgent cases with prescribed charges.
  • Issue order forms for supply of costly drugs/injections to approved chemists and assist with hospital facility arrangements for direct settlement cases.
  • Monthly inspection of office premises for sanitary and hygienic conditions and submit reports.
  • Conduct prophylactic inoculations and vaccinations when necessary.
  • Submit annual health report of Bank staff as per prescribed formats.
  • Maintain proper storage, distribution, and record-keeping of medicines.
  • Advise on drug indents and consumption as required.
  • Provide professional opinion on reasonableness of medical claim costs.
  • Accompany patients to hospitals in cardiovascular or major emergencies if available at location.
  • Arrange acceptable substitute during any absence, at own risk and cost.

Code of Conduct Highlights

  • Maintain strict confidentiality about Bank affairs and staff information.
  • Serve the Bank honestly, faithfully, and with courtesy.
  • Do not participate in politics or trade unions related to employment terms.
  • No publication or sharing of Bank information without written permission.
  • No solicitation or acceptance of gifts from Bank employees or patients.
  • No intoxication on duty or consumption of intoxicants in public places while on duty.
  • No involvement in sexual harassment or any misconduct.
  • Contract can be terminated with 10 days’ notice for breach of Code of Conduct or contract terms.
  • Prohibited from outsourcing services or subcontracting duties.

Additional Information

The Bank’s Medical Consultant shall be under the administrative control of the General Manager (Officer-in-Charge), RBI Agartala Office. The engagement is purely on a contract basis and does not entitle the consultant for regular employment or other benefits of service conditions.

Income tax as applicable will be deducted at source from the remuneration.
