Eligibility Criteria (Minimum Educational Qualification)

Diploma Apprentices

Diploma in Engineering or Technology granted by a State Council/Board of Technical Education established by a State Government in relevant discipline.
Diploma in Engineering or Technology granted by a recognized University in relevant discipline.
Diploma in Engineering or Technology granted by an institution recognized by State Government or Central Government as equivalent to the above.

Engineering Graduate Apprentices

Degree in Engineering or Technology granted by a Statutory University in relevant discipline.
Degree in Engineering or Technology granted by an Institution empowered to grant such degree by an Act of Parliament in relevant discipline.
Graduate examination of Professional bodies recognized by the State Government or Central Government as equivalent to the above.

General Stream Graduate Apprentices

Degree in BBA / B.Com / BCA / BSW granted by a statutory university in relevant discipline; or by an institution empowered to grant such degree by an Act of Parliament in relevant discipline; or graduate examination of professional bodies recognized by the State Government or Central Government as equivalent to the above.

Equivalent Qualifications: Candidates having qualification equivalent to any prescribed qualification must submit an Equivalency Certificate issued by the competent authority, otherwise candidature will not be considered.

Pass-out Eligibility: Diploma / Degree course recognized by AICTE or GOI must be passed on or after 01 April 2021 to be eligible.
CGPA/OGPA/YGPA/DGPA Note: If percentage is not given, equivalent percentage will be calculated as per the conversion formula of the University/Institute concerned. Candidate must produce documentary proof of the conversion formula at document verification, failing which candidature may be rejected.

Minimum Physical Standards

As prescribed in Clause 4 of the Apprenticeship Rule 1992 and amendments thereof (if any).

Duration of Training

The Apprenticeship training duration is one year as per Apprenticeship (Amendment) Act 1973.

Previous Training Restriction

Candidates who have already undergone or are currently undergoing apprenticeship under Apprenticeship (Amendment) Act 1973 in any Government / Public Sector / Private industrial organization are not eligible to apply.

Application Process (Step-by-Step)

Log on to MDL website and go to: Career → Online Recruitment → Apprentice.
Register by filling up relevant details and click on “Submit”.
Click on the validation link sent on your email.
Login to MDL Online Portal using Username and Password.
Select the job under the tab and view the Eligibility Criteria.
Keep scanned copies ready: recent passport size colour photograph, signature, and other relevant certificates.
Read instructions carefully and fill up all details in the online application form.
Register on NATS 2.0 portal and submit your NATS 2.0 registration number along with the application.
If any mandatory field is not applicable, enter “NA”.
Preview the application and make corrections (if any) before final submission.
After clicking submit, no corrections will be entertained through any mode of communication/correspondence.
Click on “Home” tab and confirm your status shows “Successfully Submitted”.
No hard copy of the application form is required to be sent to MDL.

Application Fee: Application is free of cost for applicants of all categories.

Selection Process

Shortlisting for document verification & interview will be based on marks obtained in the qualifying examination (as per applications received on MDL Apprentice portal).
Candidates must furnish proof of Date of Birth, Qualification, Category, etc. during document verification.
Final selection is based on combined merit: 80% qualification marks + 20% interview marks.
Date/time/venue for document verification will be informed via registered email and also uploaded on MDL website under Career / Apprentice.
Candidate must attend document verification & interview on the scheduled date/time; failure to attend will be treated as unwillingness and such candidates will not be considered further.
SC/ST/OBC candidates must produce caste certificate in prescribed format issued by competent authority under Government of India during document verification.
Candidates must produce valid ID card at document verification (Aadhaar / PAN / Voter ID / Driving License / Certificate issued by Educational Institute).
Merely attending document verification & interview does not entail selection as Apprentice with MDL.
Graduate/Diploma applicants must not be pursuing any other full-time / regular course during training; otherwise candidature will be cancelled.
No request for altering date/time/venue for document verification & interview will be accepted.
Selected candidates must submit a medical fitness certificate from a Govt. hospital of their location before joining.
No TA/DA will be paid for any stage of the induction process.

Communication Note: Every candidate must have valid email ID and mobile number registered on the portal and keep them active till end of training. MDL will not be responsible for email delivery issues due to wrong/invalid email IDs or emails landing in SPAM/BULK folders.

General Instructions, Notes & Disclaimers

Incomplete applications, applications not supported by self-authenticated copies of relevant documents, applications not meeting prescribed eligibility criteria, applications received through modes other than MDL Apprentice portal, or applications received after the last date shall be summarily rejected.
MDL Management’s decision is final regarding eligibility, acceptance/rejection of applications, mode of selection, cancellation of selection process (part or full), etc. Filling vacancies is at management discretion; no claim will arise if some vacancies remain unfilled.
Candidature is provisional and subject to verification of certificates/testimonials at any stage. If false/incorrect information is found, candidature/engagement is liable to be cancelled.
Candidates are advised to check the MDL Apprentice portal and email regularly or contact office for enquiry.
Upon completion of apprenticeship, MDL has no obligation to offer employment, and apprentices cannot claim employment rights based on completion of apprenticeship.
Incomplete/erroneous online applications or late applications received after due date will be rejected without any information in this regard.
In case of discrepancy/confusion in Hindi version, the English version of the notification shall be acceptable.
Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification.

Important: No TA/DA will be paid. Medical fitness certificate from a Government hospital is required before joining.
