PwBD Reservation and Disability Provisions

The reservation for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) indicated for the Graduate Apprentice and Trade Apprentice - Data Entry Operator disciplines, including Fresher and Skill Certificate Holder categories, will be applied on a horizontal basis across all categories as per Government guidelines.

PwBD eligibility restriction: PwBD candidates are not eligible to apply for Discipline Codes 101, 102, 103, 104, 105, 106, 107, 108, 109, 110 and 111.

A person with a specified disability listed in the Schedule appended to the applicable Act but not covered under Section 34(1), if certified by the certifying officer as a person with disability of 40% or above, shall be allowed the concession or relaxation available to PwBD. Such candidature will not be considered or adjusted against the reservation provided to PwBD under Section 34(1) of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.

For the PwBD category, Government of India guidelines will apply. The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 defines a person with benchmark disability as a person duly certified by the certifying authority with not less than 40% of a specified disability where the specified disability has not been defined in measurable terms, or a disability where the specified disability has been defined in measurable terms.

Candidates claiming PwBD benefits must submit a Disability Certificate issued by the competent authority as per the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules, 2017. Failure to submit the required certificate will result in the candidature not being considered under the PwBD category.

The notification states that deployment of PwBD candidates with other disabilities may put such candidates at risk considering that Indian Oil operates in a hazardous industry; therefore, such categories are not included.

Apprentice Stipend

The rate of stipend payable to apprentices will be in accordance with the Apprentices Act, 1961, Apprentices Rules, 1992 and other applicable amendments and guidelines issued from time to time.

Additional payment: In addition to the statutory stipend, apprentices will be paid ₹2,500 per month towards miscellaneous expenses by Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Marketing Division, Northern Region.

Graduate and Technician Apprentices

For Graduate and Technician Apprentices, a portion of the stipend is disbursed directly into the apprentice's bank account by the Board of Apprenticeship Training (BOAT) under the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme.

Trade Apprentices

Trade Apprentices under the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) will receive the stipend in full from Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Marketing Division, Northern Region.

The stipend arrangements are subject to change according to guidelines and advice issued by the Government, Board of Apprenticeship Training, National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme or any other authority stipulated by the applicable Act and Rules.

Candidates must have an Aadhaar-seeded bank account enabled for Direct Benefit Transfer for receiving the Government's share of stipend from BOAT. Account details, APAAR ID and e-KYC must also be correctly updated and verified on the NATS portal wherever applicable.

Educational Qualification and Eligibility Criteria

Trade Apprentice - Fitter

  • Discipline Code: 107.
  • Matriculation/Class 10 qualification.
  • Regular full-time 2-year ITI course in Fitter.
  • ITI must be recognized by NCVT/SCVT.
  • Pass marks in the relevant ITI trade are sufficient.

Trade Apprentice - Electrician

Trade Apprentice - Data Entry Operator (Skill Certificate Holders)

  • Discipline Code: 114.
  • Class 12th pass.
  • Candidate must be below graduate level.
  • Must possess a Skill Certificate of Domestic Data Entry Operator.
  • The skill training should be for less than one year.
  • The certificate must be issued by an awarding body recognized under the National Skill Qualifications Framework or another authority recognized by the Central Government.

General Qualification Conditions

  1. The prescribed qualification must be obtained from a recognized University or Institute as a full-time regular course in the relevant discipline.
  2. Qualifications acquired through Part-time, Correspondence or Distance Learning mode will render the candidate ineligible for the notified disciplines.
  3. Where CGPA, OGPA or Letter Grade is awarded in Class XII, ITI, Degree or Diploma examinations, the equivalent aggregate percentage must be indicated in the online application according to the norms adopted by the concerned Board, University or Institute.
  4. Candidates may be required to furnish a certificate from the concerned University or Institute regarding the equivalent aggregate percentage with reference to CGPA, OGPA or Letter Grade at the time of document verification.
  5. Failure to furnish the required equivalent-percentage certificate may result in the candidature not being considered.
  6. Diploma under a recognized Institute/University lateral-entry scheme, where a candidate was admitted to the second year of the Diploma course through Class XII/ITI, may also be considered eligible subject to meeting the prescribed percentage of marks based on aggregate marks of all semesters of the Diploma course.

Additional Apprenticeship Eligibility Conditions

  1. A candidate may undergo a maximum of two apprenticeship trainings, and the second training shall not be in the same trade.
  2. There shall normally be a minimum one-year gap between two apprenticeship trainings, provided that the previous training is completed.
  3. No gap is required where termination of the previous apprenticeship training occurred due to failure on the part of the employer.
  4. Where an apprentice terminated a previous apprenticeship contract due to health or financial hardship, relocation, transportation, career changes or language barrier, a waiting period of three months applies before entering into another apprenticeship contract with the same or another employer.
  5. There is no waiting period for women in the circumstances specified by the notification.
  6. Where an apprenticeship contract was terminated because of failure by the apprentice to carry out the terms of the contract, the apprentice is not entitled to enter into another apprenticeship contract.
  7. Candidates applying under NATS who have completed five years as on 31 August 2026 in the relevant discipline after acquiring the prescribed qualification, as determined from the last semester or year marksheet, are not eligible.
  8. Candidates applying under NAPS who have completed five years as on 31 August 2026 in the relevant discipline after acquiring the prescribed qualification are not eligible.
  9. If the date of declaration of result is not mentioned in the marksheet, the candidate must submit a certificate mentioning the date of publication of result from the Principal of the Polytechnic, College or Institute from where the candidate pursued the course along with the application form.
  10. Candidates registered with Local/State Employment Exchanges or Vocational Rehabilitation Centres for Persons with Benchmark Disability and meeting the prescribed eligibility criteria are required to apply only through NAPS/NATS, failing which their candidature will not be considered.
  11. Candidates possessing higher professional qualifications such as B.E. or equivalent, MBA or equivalent, MCA, CA, ICWA, LLB or any equivalent higher qualification are not eligible.
  12. Candidates pursuing higher qualifications and completing them on or before joining the apprenticeship training are also not eligible.
  13. Suppression of information regarding possession of or pursuit of higher qualifications can render the candidate ineligible at any stage and may lead to termination during the training period.
  14. Diploma Holder or Vocational Certificate Holder candidates having job experience of one year or more after attaining the qualification are not eligible to be engaged as apprentices.
  15. Candidates whose apprenticeship contract has already been approved by BOAT on the NATS portal are advised that BOAT (Northern Region) does not permit creation of a second apprenticeship contract even if the earlier contract is subsequently terminated.

Selection Process

No Written Examination and No Interview: Candidates registered on NAPS/NATS and applying against the notification will be considered for selection. There will be no written test or interview.
  1. Candidates must be registered on the appropriate NAPS or NATS portal and apply against the notification.
  2. Candidates meeting the eligibility criteria will be considered for preparation of the merit list.
  3. The merit list will be prepared based on the percentage of marks secured in the prescribed qualification for the respective post.
  4. If two candidates secure the same percentage of marks, the candidate with the earlier date of birth, meaning the older candidate, will be considered first.
  5. If candidates also have the same date of birth, the candidate having a higher percentage of marks in matriculation will be considered.
  6. Preference will be given to candidates applying for apprenticeship training for the first time.
  7. Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification.
  8. Shortlisted candidates must complete the pre-engagement medical fitness test and be adjudged medically suitable.
  9. Candidates successfully qualifying document verification and the pre-engagement medical fitness examination will be adjudged suitable for engagement.
  10. Suitable candidates will be issued an offer of engagement for apprenticeship training.

Pre-Engagement Medical Examination

Candidates must be medically fit according to Indian Oil's pre-engagement medical standards. Candidates are advised to go through the guidelines and criteria for physical fitness for pre-engagement medical examination before commencing the application process.

The notification states that the relevant guidelines are available on the IOCL Apprenticeships page under Pre-engagement Medical Format.

A maximum amount of ₹3,000 may be reimbursed to the candidate towards expenses incurred for tests and investigations during the pre-engagement medical examination, subject to production of receipts.

Concessions and Relaxations

SC, ST and OBC-NCL candidates applying for Unreserved (UR) seats will be considered only if they fulfill the standards applicable to candidates belonging to the General category.

Reservation and relaxation benefits will otherwise be applicable according to the conditions prescribed in the notification and applicable Government guidelines.

  6. Candidates must log in to the respective portal using their User ID or Email ID.
  7. Candidates must search and apply for the relevant apprenticeship opening/opportunity of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (Marketing Division), Northern Region.
  8. Candidates must use the appropriate establishment ID: NATS - NDLSDC000005 or NAPS - E05200700003.
  9. After applying through NAPS/NATS, candidates must submit their details through the specified Microsoft Office Form.
  10. The Microsoft Form requires the candidate to provide the preferred State and three preferred locations.
  11. Only one response to the Microsoft Form should be submitted.
  12. Candidates must complete the entire process by 06 September 2026 at 05:00 PM.

Requirements Before Applying

  1. Candidates must register themselves on NAPS/NATS as applicable. NATS is for Graduate and Diploma holders, while NAPS is for ITI and Data Entry Operator candidates.
  2. Candidates must have a valid and active Apprentice Registration/Enrollment Number.
  3. Candidates must ensure 100% completion and updating of their profile.
  4. Candidates must have an active email ID and mobile number valid for at least one year.
  5. Future communication regarding Document Verification and Engagement Letter will be made through email/SMS alerts.
  6. Candidates must verify all information before final submission.
  7. Candidates are wholly and exclusively responsible for the information provided in the NAPS/NATS application and Microsoft Form.
  8. Changes to the application after final submission will not be entertained by IOCL.

Other Requirements

  • Candidate must have a PAN Card.
  • Candidate should have an Aadhaar Card.
  • Candidate should have an active bank account and cheque book with the candidate's name printed.
  • The bank account will be required after engagement for release of monthly stipend.
  • The bank account should be the same account number updated on the NATS portal for DBT purposes, wherever applicable.
  • The bank account should be seeded with the candidate's Aadhaar number.
  • The bank account should be enabled for Direct Benefit Transfer.
  • Candidates whose accounts are not Aadhaar-seeded or DBT-enabled must approach their respective bank branch to enable the required facilities.
  • Candidates should update the details of the active and Aadhaar-seeded bank account correctly on the NATS portal for release of monthly DBT by BOAT.
  • Candidates must update their APAAR ID on the NATS portal.
  • Candidates must complete and verify e-KYC on the NATS portal.

Aadhaar and Direct Benefit Transfer Verification

Candidates are advised to check whether their bank account is Aadhaar-seeded using the UIDAI Aadhaar portal.

Candidates should also check whether their bank account is enabled for Direct Benefit Transfer through the NPCI portal and check the relevant status under the consumer section.

Document Verification

Candidates who have applied through NAPS/NATS and are shortlisted on merit will be informed about document verification on a suitable date. Document verification may be conducted at any of the IOCL units/offices or through another modality as decided by the management.

Candidates must furnish the original documents along with self-attested copies at the time of document verification for joining at the location.

Documents Required

  1. Marksheet or certificate issued by the Board of Secondary Education for passing the Matriculation or Class X examination. This is the only acceptable document for supporting the date of birth. No other document will be accepted for verification of date of birth.
  2. Latest caste certificate for candidates belonging to reserved categories, in the prescribed Government proforma and issued by the competent authority.
  3. Valid OBC-NCL certificate in the prescribed Government of India format for candidates claiming OBC-NCL reservation.
  4. Certificate from the Institute stating that the candidate pursued the course through regular mode and specifying the year of passing.
  5. Semester-wise or year-wise marksheets of ITI (NCVT/SCVT), HSC, Graduation or Diploma in Engineering, as applicable.
  6. Final ITI (NCVT/SCVT) certificate, HSC certificate, Graduation certificate or Diploma in Engineering certificate issued by the respective Board, Authority or Institute.
  7. Copy of the first page of the Aadhaar-seeded bank passbook.
  8. Aadhaar Card.
  9. PAN Card.
  10. Cancelled cheque leaf.
  11. Pre-Engagement Medical Fitness Certificate.
  12. Disability Certificate where applicable for PwBD candidates.

OBC-NCL Certificate Requirements

Candidates claiming reservation under the OBC Non-Creamy Layer category must possess a valid OBC-NCL certificate in the prescribed format of the Government of India.

  • The certificate should have been issued on or after 01 September 2025, meaning it should not be more than 12 months old as on the cut-off date of 31 August 2026.
  • A more recent OBC-NCL certificate obtained after the cut-off date and produced at the time of Document Verification will also be accepted.
