Eligibility Criteria
For Senior Library Assistant
- Essential Qualification: Master’s in Library & Information Science (M.L.I.Sc)
- Desirable Experience: Five years of relevant experience, knowledge of computers, IT applications in libraries, and Library Management Systems (Koha ILMS, DSpace OSS).
For Library Trainee
- Essential Qualification: Master’s in Library & Information Science (M.L.I.Sc)
- Desirable Experience: One year of relevant experience, knowledge of computers, IT applications in libraries, and Library Management Systems.
Employment Type
The positions are purely temporary and on an adhoc basis through a manpower outsourcing agency. The initial tenure is one year, extendable for another year depending on performance and requirements of the Institute.
Job Responsibilities
Senior Library Assistant
- Assist the Librarian in providing library services to faculty and students.
- Assist faculty and students in securing books, articles, and teaching/research materials.
- Handle Harvard Case Portal.
- Acquire, organize, manage, and distribute library resources.
- Select, develop, catalogue, and classify resources.
- Liaise with faculty, external organizations, and book suppliers.
- Operate Koha ILMS and DSpace OSS.
- Assist users with digital resources and databases.
- Perform weekend/holiday/shift duties as required.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Library Trainee
- Assist at the circulation desk (check-in/check-out).
- Accessioning, cataloguing, and processing new materials.
- Shelve and maintain books as per standards.
- Register new users and maintain profiles in Koha.
- Maintain issue/return records and manage fines.
- Assist users with digital resources and databases.
- Handle Harvard Case Portal.
- Perform weekend/holiday/shift duties as required.
- Other tasks as assigned.
