Organization Overview

Gujarat Vidyapith, a Deemed to be University established under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 (vide Notification No. F.10-20/62-U2, Government of India), was founded by Mahatma Gandhi in 1920 and has been a Deemed University since 1963. The institution is accredited with Grade “B++” by NAAC and is committed to imparting higher education aimed at preparing grass-root workers with strong character and competency. The university promotes values such as truth, non-violence, dignity of labour, respect for all religions, and social and economic equity with a focus on rural reconstruction. The medium of instruction is primarily Gujarati, though Hindi and English are allowed in exceptional cases.

Eligibility Criteria

A. Academic Qualification

A Master’s degree with 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in the concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian or accredited foreign university.
Candidate must have cleared NET conducted by UGC/CSIR or similar test accredited by UGC (SLET/SET) or possess a Ph.D. in accordance with UGC Regulations (2009/2016).
Candidates registered for Ph.D. before 11 July 2009 are exempt from NET/SLET/SET if they fulfill specific conditions including thesis evaluation, publications, and viva.

B. Foreign Ph.D. Qualification

The Ph.D. degree obtained from a foreign university/institution ranked among the top 500 globally by QS, THE, or ARWU is acceptable.

C. Technical Qualification Alternatives

BE/B.Tech/BS and ME/M.Tech/MS or Integrated M.Tech in relevant branch with first class or equivalent in any one degree.
B.E./B.Tech and MCA with first class or equivalent in any one of the two degrees.
Graduation (3 years) with Mathematics as compulsory subject and MCA (First Class) with two years of relevant experience after MCA.

Language Requirement

Knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi is essential as the medium of instruction at all levels is primarily Gujarati.

Selection Process

Academic score will be evaluated as per Appendix II (Table 3A for Universities / 3B for Colleges) for shortlisting candidates.
Final selection will be based solely on the candidate’s performance in the interview.

General Conditions

All other terms as per UGC Regulations 2018 and subsequent amendments.
Posts are purely temporary and contractual for 11 months with no additional benefits.
Candidates opting for online interviews must inform via email before the specified deadline.
A minimum of 55% marks at the Master’s level is mandatory; 5% relaxation (to 50%) applies for Ph.D. holders who completed Master’s before 19 September 1991.
Knowledge of Gujarati/Hindi is essential.
