Forest Research Institute (FRI) Walk-in-Interview 2026 – Fellowship Recruitment Notification
The Forest Research Institute (FRI), Dehradun, under the Indian Council of Forestry Research & Education (ICFRE), has released an official advertisement (No. 5-1/RCS/2026) for conducting Walk-in-Interviews for various fellowship positions on a purely temporary basis. These positions are offered under different research projects funded by the Uttar Pradesh Forest Department (UPFD) and the Punjab Forest Department (PFD).

Employment Type & Tenure
All positions are offered purely on a temporary basis under specific research projects.
- Initial Tenure: 12 Months
- Tenure may continue up to project completion or subject to availability of funds.
- Tenure may be extended as per ICFRE rules.

Eligibility Criteria
Senior Project Associate
- First Class M.Sc. in Forestry/Agroforestry/Botany/Biotechnology/Environmental Science from a recognized university
- OR Doctoral Degree in relevant discipline
- OR Four years research experience in relevant field
- Desirable: Knowledge of MS Office, statistical tools, computer applications, RS & GIS
Junior Research Fellow / Junior Project Fellow
- First Class M.Sc. in Forestry/Agroforestry/Botany/Biotechnology/Environmental Science
- NET qualification required for JRF
- Desirable: Experience in relevant field
Project Assistant
- B.Sc. in Forestry/Botany/Biotechnology/Environmental Science
- Desirable: Computer application knowledge and field experience
Field Assistant
- Intermediate (12th Pass)
- Preference to candidates with experience in relevant field
Age Limit
- Senior Project Associate – Maximum 40 Years
- Junior Research Fellow / Junior Project Fellow – Maximum 28 Years
- Age relaxation up to 5 years for SC/ST/Women/OBC/Physically Handicapped candidates
Application Process
- Attend Walk-in Interview at the specified venue.
- Bring Bio-data along with recent passport size photograph.
- Carry self-attested copies of all educational certificates and relevant documents.
- Submit documents to the office of Group Coordinator (Research), FRI, Dehradun.
- No separate interview letter will be issued.
- No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.

Application Fees
No application fee is mentioned in the notification. No fee is required for attending the walk-in interview.
General Conditions & Important Instructions
- Fellowship is governed by ICFRE rules.
- The fellowship does not guarantee permanent employment in FRI or ICFRE.
- Ph.D. period and teaching experience will not be considered as research experience.
- Candidates already working must bring NOC from their current employer.
- Director, FRI reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of posts or not to recruit any post without assigning reason.
- In case of discrepancy between Hindi and English versions, the English version will be treated as the final standard text.
