Selected candidates may be posted at any of the following RDSO Inspection Units as per the discretion of the RDSO Administration:

• 1 Lucknow
• 2 Mumbai
• 3 Bengaluru
• 4 Kolkata
• 5 Other inspection units as decided by RDSO Administration

Scope of Work & Duties

Inspection units of RDSO are entrusted with the work of inspection against the purchase orders placed by Railway Board / Zonal Railways / Production Units, Vendor Registration, and Quality Audit of vendors and Railway Workshops.

1. Cadre & Department Requirement: Candidates must be working as Sr. Section Engineer (Cadre Post) in Pay Level-7 in the concerned department (Signal & Telecommunication / S&T) of a Zonal Railway or Production Unit.
2. Higher Level Applicants Provision: Sr. Section Engineers of the concerned department working in a Level higher than Level-7 may also apply. In the event of their selection, the candidate may be transferred to RDSO along with his/her substantive post of appropriate Level (Level-8 & above); in lieu of this arrangement, a Level-7 post will be temporarily transferred from RDSO to the parent Unit of the selected official for the entire duration of his/her tenure at RDSO. 3. Minimum Service Experience: A minimum of 05 Years of Service Experience as Sr. Section Engineer (Cadre Post) in Pay Level-7 will be strictly necessary.
4. Ex-cadre & MACP Experience Restriction: Experience acquired in ex-cadre posts will NOT be considered. Furthermore, pay levels granted due to Modified Assured Career Progression (MACP) will NOT be taken into consideration for reckoning cadre post eligibility.
5. Vigilance & D&AR Clearance: NO Case under Discipline and Appeal Rules (D&AR) or Special Police Establishment (SPE) / Vigilance should be pending or contemplated against the candidate.
6. Performance Appraisal / APAR Grading: The total APAR (Annual Performance Appraisal Report) grading of the last three years (2022-23, 2023-24, and 2024-25) should not be less than 11 marks, and the grading of the APAR of the last year should not be less than 'GOOD'.
7. Residual Service: Candidate must have a minimum of 05 years of residual service left before retirement / superannuation.
8. Medical Fitness Category: Must possess Medical Fitness Category A-3.
9. Cooling-off Period: A cooling-off period of 03 years will be maintained between two tenures in RDSO. If the applications received for the first term are fewer than the notified vacancies, applications for the second term will be considered.
10. Debarment Condition: Candidates against whom any penalty was imposed as an outcome of a vigilance case during a previous RDSO tenure will be debarred from the present selection.
11. Crucial Cut-off Date: The cut-off date for reckoning eligibility, experience, and all other criteria will be the date of issue of this notification (25.09.2026).

1. Willing and eligible Railway employees must fill out their application on the prescribed proforma attached with the notification.
2. Submit the completed form to the controlling officer for official concurrence.
3. The application must then be routed and officially forwarded by the Personnel Branch of the concerned Zonal Railway or Production Unit.
4. The application must reach the RDSO Office on or before 05.11.2026 through e-mail, post, etc.
