Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess a Graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized University/Institution.

The qualification must be from a University/Institution recognized by the Government of India or an appropriate regulatory body.

Preferred Certifications

The following certifications are preferred:

  • IC 38 from the Insurance Institute of India
  • NISM Series V-A: Mutual Fund Distributors Certification Examination
  • NISM Series XXI-A: Portfolio Management Services (PMS) Distributors Certification Examination
  • NISM Series XIII: Common Derivatives Certification Examination

Work Experience

Candidates must have a minimum of 1 year of post-qualification experience as an Officer in any Scheduled Commercial Bank listed in the Second Schedule of the Reserve Bank of India.

Experience in a clerical cadre will not be considered for fulfilling the required officer-level experience.

Experience of less than six months in any organization as on 1 August 2026 is generally not considered for eligibility, except where such experience forms part of the candidate's current employment.

The Bank will verify whether the candidate's actual job profile substantially matches that of a Scale-I Officer.

Local Language Proficiency

Candidates must be proficient in the local language of the State for which they are applying. Proficiency includes all of the following:

  • Reading

Candidates shortlisted through the online examination will have to qualify the Language Proficiency Test (LPT).

Candidates who provide a Class 10 or Class 12 marksheet/certificate showing that they studied the specified local language of the State as a subject will not have to appear for the Language Proficiency Test.

Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland: English is accepted as the local language only where the candidate studied and passed English as a subject from a school located in the respective State.

Online Examination Rules

  • The English Language test is qualifying in nature.
  • Marks obtained in the English Language test are not counted for the final merit list.
  • There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.
  • No marks are deducted for questions that are left unanswered.

Language Proficiency Test

Candidates shortlisted through the online examination will have to qualify the Language Proficiency Test (LPT), unless they are exempted based on documentary proof of having studied the applicable local language.

Candidates who submit a Class 10 or Class 12 marksheet/certificate demonstrating that they studied the specified local language of the State as a subject will not have to take the LPT.

Important: Failure to qualify the Language Proficiency Test will result in the candidate not being allowed to proceed to the Personal Interview.

Probation Period

The selected candidate will be on probation for a period of 12 months (1 year) of active service from the date of joining the Bank.

Service Bond

Selected candidates are required to execute a service bond in accordance with the applicable terms of the Bank.

The current requirement provides for a minimum service period of 3 years after joining.

If a candidate leaves before completing the required three years of active service, the current bond provides for payment equivalent to three months' Gross Salary, subject to a maximum of ₹2 lakh.

The Bank may revise the bond terms in accordance with its prevailing policies and applicable service conditions.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities

The Local Bank Officer will be responsible for banking operations, customer service, credit administration, business development, compliance, relationship management and other functions assigned by the Bank.

  • Manage day-to-day banking operations, including customer service, account management, cash operations, remittances and delivery of banking services in accordance with the Bank's policies and procedures.
  • Process, appraise and administer credit proposals, including retail, agriculture, MSME and other loan portfolios, ensuring proper documentation, monitoring and recovery.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory guidelines, internal policies, KYC/AML norms, audit requirements, risk management standards and fraud prevention measures.
  • Perform administrative and supervisory functions, including staff coordination, preparation of MIS and regulatory reports, and implementation of Bank initiatives.
  • Drive business growth by mobilising deposits, acquiring new customers, marketing banking products and digital services, and achieving assigned business and cross-selling targets.
  • Develop and maintain long-term customer relationships and acquire new customers through community engagement, customer referrals, local market outreach and need-based banking solutions.
  • Coordinate with branch, business and operational units for efficient customer servicing, timely resolution of customer requirements and seamless execution of banking operations.
  • Undertake customer visits, follow-ups and relationship management activities to strengthen customer engagement, enhance service quality and support business development.
  • Leverage local language proficiency and knowledge of the local market to deepen customer relationships, promote financial inclusion and expand the Bank's business.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with customers, local communities and other stakeholders while representing the Bank professionally and contributing to its overall business objectives.
  • Perform any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Bank from time to time, including business, operational, administrative and customer service functions.
  • Undertake any other work or role that may be assigned as per the Bank's extant guidelines.

Posting and Transfer Conditions

The selected candidates will generally be posted within the State for which they have applied for the first 12 years of service or until promotion to SMGS-IV, whichever is earlier.

After completion of the applicable period or promotion to SMGS-IV, the Bank may post the employee anywhere in India at its discretion.
